Not Only Was Steve Jobs Sick, He Had A Liver Transplant.There really isn’t much to say here beyond what are being reported as the facts. Apparently, Apple CEO Steve Jobs had a liver transplant two months ago, the Wall Street Journal reports tonight. When you read that, it’s pretty shocking — but not that surprising. -

Oracle said Monday that it will buy Sun Microsystems for $9.50 a share in cash, or about $5.6 billion excluding debt, in a deal that plunges Larry Ellison & Co. into the hardware market. The company added that the acquisition of Java “is the most important software Oracle has ever acquired.”With the move- valued at $7.4 billion including Sun’s debt - Oracle also becomes a full-fledged hardware player. Oracle has been dabbling with the storage appliance with HP, but the acquisition of Sun puts the company in an entirely different realm. Oracle and Sun have been long-time partners... -

Silicon Graphics Declares Bankruptcy and Sells Itself For $25 Million

Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2009
June 8-9 San Francisco Moscone West
Appleannounced that its annual developers conference will kick-off on Monday June 8th and run through the 12th at the Moscone West convention center in downtown San Francisco.
Tickets for 5 days event will run $1,295 through April 24th, at which time Apple plans to increase the price by $300.

App Store grows, but apps are seldom used

iPhone users have short attention spans.
At least that’s the conclusion from data collected by Pinch Media, a company that helps developers track the use of their iPhone applications.
Pinch found that of the users who download free applications from the App Store, only 20 percent use the app the next day, and far fewer do as the days pass. For paid applications, the return rate is only slightly better: 30 percent of people use the application the day after they buy it. The drop-off rate for paid applications is about as steep as for free applications after the first day. more
